| This amp is solid, beautifully constructed, and has great "gee-whiz" appeal with its 15 different LCD readouts, from exhaust air temperature to output power to dB gain. Tunes quickly, and protects against overdrive by automatically switching in a 6 dB pad if you're too far mistuned. Driven with 45~50w, I see 1000~1150w to the antenna. On a city lot, with low antennas fed by Mini 8X, I figure one KW is just right. People say it's expensive: price out the "Brand AL-" single 4CX800A _PLUS_ QSK box _PLUS_ heavy duty transmatch (you need all three to equal the ACOM) and at $2,503.30 (delivered to Oregon) you'll see the ACOM 1000 is actually less. My favorite parts: the blower is quieter than either my computer fan or Kenwood PS-40 power supply, and I hear no relay noise whatsoever when QSK. | |||
