Products Packing

Products Packing for Shipping

It is the customer's responsibility to ensure that the amplifier (or other product) and all accessories are properly and securely packaged to avoid any shipping damage. ACOM is not responsible for any damage that occurs when a customer is sending an amplifier (or other product) in for service/repair.

If you are returning an amplifier (or other product) for diagnostics or repair and no longer have the original packaging, you can purchase new packaging material at your local shipping company (e.g., UPS, FedEx, DHL, or other packing store).

+ ACOM highly recommends: Use the original packaging material

It is highly recommended to use the original packing material that was included when you first received the amplifier (or other product).

The packaging usually includes an outer carton, an inner carton, secure cardboard elements with foam separation corners, flat cardboard secure elements, and an accessory box.

Example: ACOM 700S packaged in its original packaging

+ How to pack the amplifier (or other product) when the original packaging is missing?

The product must be packaged as closely as possible to the original ACOM packaging method (described in the User's Manual). For the packing, you will need the following materials:

  • Outer cardboard carton;
  • Inner cardboard carton;
  • ESD plastic folio or ESD protective plastic bags (big size);
  • Bubble wrap;
  • Foam (Styrofoam) corners (bubble wrap can be used instead, but not recommended);
  • Heavy-duty, 2-inch-wide (5 cm) self-adhesive tape;
  • Plastic or metal strapping band.

We recommend following the preparation and packaging sequence shown in the following images.

Spare parts

  1. Wrap the amplifier with ESD plastic or place it in a plastic ESD bag and secure it with tape.
  2. Wrap the amplifier with 3 layers of bubble wrap and secure it with tape.
  3. Add 2 folded pieces of bubble wrap to the front and rear sides and secure them with tape.

Spare parts

  1. Place the wrapped amplifier at the bottom of the inner carton.If there is any space left between the amplifier and the walls of the box, it should be filled with bubble wrap.
  2. Add the separator cardboard element on top of the amplifier.
  3. Gather all accessories and parts, such as cables, RCU, blower, etc., if any.

Spare parts

  1. Wrap the accessories and parts in bubble wrap, and secure them with tape. Place them into a separate cardboard carton, close it, and tape it shut.
  2. Place the accessory/parts box in the inner carton, on top of the separator cardboard element. Secure the box with the bubble wrap.
  3. Close and tape the inner carton.

Spare parts

  1. Add 4 Styrofoam corners to the bottom angles of the outer carton, inside the carton. Place the inner cardboard carton into the outer carton. Add 4 Styrofoam corners to the top angles of the outer carton. If such protective corners are not available, bubble wrap can be used as a replacement, but it is not recommended.
  2. Tape the outer carton with heavy-duty self-adhesive tape and add secure strapping bands outside the carton.
  3. Add the shipping labels.

Now, the amplifier is ready for shipment.

+ How to pack the High Voltage Power Transformer?

Some amplifier models are equipped with a high-voltage transformer, delivered in a separate cardboard carton (not installed in the amplifier). This is because the transformer is a very heavy piece of equipment, and installing it inside the amplifier could damage it during shipping.

The transformer must be packaged as closely as possible to the original ACOM packaging method. For the packing, you will need the following materials:

  • Outer cardboard carton;
  • Inner cardboard carton;
  • Two piece of plywood;
  • Bubble wrap;
  • Foam (Styrofoam) pieces;
  • Heavy-duty, 2-inch-wide (5 cm) self-adhesive tape;
  • Plastic or metal strapping band.

We recommend following the preparation and packaging sequence shown in the following images.

Spare parts

  1. Use the appropriate piece of plywood and bolt down the transformer to it with 4 bolts. The bolts must be strong enough according to the transformer's weight.

Spare parts

  1. Use a double-walled cardboard box (box within a box) and place a 3 layers of bubble wrap on its bottom.
  2. Place the secured transformer in the cardboard box.
  3. Place styrofoam pieces around the transformer and onto the top of it.

Spare parts

  1. Place a plywood piece at the top ot the transformer. This finished the packing stack.
  2. Close the carton and tape it with heavy-duty self-adhesive tape, and add secure strapping bands outside the carton.
  3. Add the shipping labels.

Now, the amplifier is ready for shipment.

+ How to pack the Electron Tubes?

For the packing, you will need the following materials:

  • Cardboard carton;
  • ESD protective plastic bags;
  • Bubble wrap;
  • Heavy-duty, 2-inch-wide (5 cm) self-adhesive tape;

We recommend following the preparation and packaging sequence shown in the following image.

Spare parts

  1. Place the tube in the ESD plastic bag.
  2. Wrap the lamp in bubble wrap with at least 5 layers.
  3. Place the wrapped lamp in a cardboard carton and add additional bubble wrap, if necessary. Close the carton and tape it with heavy-duty self-adhesive tape. Add the shipping labels.

+ How does ACOM pack repaired products for delivery (returning) to its customers?

It is an ACOM rule:
Every repaired product is packed in new packaging, just like new products.

The packaging usually includes an outer carton, an inner carton, and different secure elements, depending on the repaired product.

Please note that this rule only applies to repairs carried out by ACOM in our factory in Bulgaria. Our Service & Repair Partners worldwide may use their own packaging and are solely responsible for the secure packaging of the repaired product.

Information about the original ACOM packaging is available in the product User's Manual (PDF-file), under the "Unpackaging and Initial Inspection" section.
